Lake Arrowhead is a beautiful area located in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. You can go hiking, backpacking, bicycling, and fishing during the summer months or snow boarding and skiing during the winter months.
We stayed at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, which had access to a private area on the lake. We were only here for one night to rest before our 4-hour drive to Manzanar National Historic Site the next day.
The hotel lobby is gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a room with a lake view and we were so glad that we did because the view was stunning! There is a nice high-top table with two chairs set up for you on the balcony so you can enjoy some wine or coffee and relax watching the sunrise or sunset over the lake.
The room itself has lots of space with two queen beds, TV, desk, refrigerator, closet and dresser. They provided C.O. Bigelow toiletries, which we loved.
Once we put our bags down, we explored the premises outside and took a nice walk along a paved trail with views of the lake. We noticed several people walking their dogs along the trail and found out that the resort is pet friendly. You can bring your furry friend with you for an extra fee of $75 per day. Not cheap, but worth it if you love taking your dog everywhere with you.
For dinner, we ate at the Lake Arrowhead Village, which was located within walking distance from the hotel. It was after 8pm when we decided to eat and everything in the village was pretty much closed. Luckily, Lake Arrowhead Village Pizza Deli Arcade was still open until 9pm. We hesitated to go in at first since they were closing in 15 minutes, but the workers insisted we come in and grab something to eat since they just sat a large party anyway. We ordered some pizza and wine and enjoyed the cheesy deliciousness. They also poured us a generous amount of wine, so we give this place an A+!
In the morning, we walked along the lake once more and then headed to the hotel's restaurant, BIN 189, for breakfast. If you have AAA, you'll get two free breakfast vouchers at the restaurant. Not sure if they run this deal all the time, but definitely worth asking.
We sat outside on the patio and it was so gorgeous out there! The service was excellent and the food was superb. Crystal had her favorite pancakes and Candy had the All American Breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a better morning breakfast with perfect weather.
We really wanted to stay another day to enjoy some of their outdoor activities like the guided nature hike at the San Bernardino National Forest. We'll just have to save that for next time.
