Brunch at O Cocina & Flights in Tampa

I've become a brunch junkie lately and trying out all the hip restaurants around Tampa on the weekends. I usually like to check out places that have a cool vibe or something unique and O Cocina & Flights definitely fits that category.

O Cocina opened in April 2016 and has been showing up all over my Instagram feed. What really stands out in their restaurant is the magnificent succulent wall and ceiling at the bar. It's like a 3D sculpture of succulents and it's absolutely amazing! I'm obsessed with succulents, so I really wanted to see this for myself. Even before you walk into the restaurant, they have rows of colorful succulents lined up outside on their wall and I just love it!

The restaurant serves upscale, contemporary Mexican food and we stopped by on a Sunday for brunch. The decor is very inviting with a copper tone and warm globes of light hanging from the ceiling. We liked their short, smart menu with a twist to every drink and entree.

For our drinks, we ordered the Hot Mess and Santa Anna's Sunrise. The Hot Mess was one of their spicy drinks on the menu and boy was this SPICY! A little too spicy for me, but it was still tasty. It was almost a challenge trying to take the whole drink down. The Santa Anna's Sunrise was champagne with blood orange and it was light and sweet.

Before our entrees came out, we were served mini donuts, which is my favorite! We ate them so fast that our server brought us out another round. I love her for that! For our entrees, we ordered the Chicken Y Churros and Arepa Eggs Benedict. I loved that they used churros instead of waffles and added pork belly to the eggs benedict dish.

After we were done eating, one of the managers, Charlie, came to chat with us and told us a little more about the restaurant. He was very passionate about the restaurant and told us there would be additional entrees on the menu soon. We appreciated that he took the time to talk to us. We raved about the decor of the place and learned that a talented designer named Robert Bowen designed the whole restaurant. I want him to design our home full of succulents too (whenever I own a home)!

At the end of our meal, we were given our bill in a cute note card with a succulent design. I adore that they stuck with the whole succulent theme and love that restaurants are getting clever with their bills.

We really enjoyed our brunch experience at "O", as the employees called it, and will be back again soon for dinner and more drinks!
