The Most Beautiful Color Burst Latte at The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker

Once again, Instagram photos lured us into another awesome restaurant. This time we spotted a colorfully decorated latte all over The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker’s Instagram feed and we immediately made reservations. It’s pretty hard to get seated, without a wait, in central LA so we always make reservations no matter what time of day it is.

Sunny Sunday Morning at the BBCM

Not only does BBCM make awesome lattes, they also have an amazing brunch menu, so we reserved a table for two on a Sunday morning. You can either sit inside our outdoors, but we opted to sit indoors since it was a chilly morning in LA. We would have liked to sit at one of their adorable yellow booths, but they were already taken. We had our reservations for 8:30AM and we thought we would be the crowd, but the restaurant was already bustling.

BBCM COLOR BURST LATTE

On the menu, we immediately spotted the Artisan Coffee section and both ordered the color burst latte. The price tag was a little higher than your average latte, but we completely understand that it’s a work of art so we were happy to pay the extra cost. While we waited patiently for our lattes we were wondering what our latte art was going to look like.

We saw on their Instagram feed various designs, but when we received ours, we had the exact same design with slightly different color variations. The colorful flower printed design was gorgeous; however, we wished we had received different designs. We figured the latte artist that day may have been different or didn’t have time to make different designs. Nonetheless, we were delighted and enjoyed our lattes.

SKILLET BAKED MUSHROOM OMELETTE

When I received my plate, I was quite surprised at how big the portion was. My hen of woods mushroom omelette was beautifully plated and topped with crispy kale chips sprinkled with shaved parmesan cheese. I really enjoyed the texture of the crunchy kale chips with the eggs and mushroom. The potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the side of sliced bread and fruit really tied the entire entree together. I also appreciated that the fruits were fresh and sweet.

BACON, EGG, & CHEESE SANDWICH

They weren’t kidding when the menu description said a “thick” steamed omelette. The steamed omelette was very thick and it was also cooked to perfection. If you are an egg connoisseur, you definitely won’t be disappointed with the eggs here. The bacon had a delicious smoky flavor to it and the tomato jam was an interesting touch and had more texture than your traditional ketchup.

VERDICT

The food was delicious and was more than enough for one person. We loved our beautifully decorated lattes and would love to go back and get another one and perhaps a different design next time. Unfortunately, you can’t request a design as it’s up to the latte artist. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was bright and airy. Our table was on the tiny side, so we did feel a little cramped. It was also super bright inside with the sun beaming in, so wearing a pair of sunglasses wouldn’t hurt if you don’t want to squint during your meal.

PARKING

Parking on Sunset Blvd. is a real pain, but luckily there is free parking right behind the restaurant. Be warned though because it can be easy to miss. We passed the entrance a couple of times and finally found it on our third pass. You’ll notice a small alley entrance right before the restaurant, so as your GPS approaches to the address slow down and be very vigilant for this hidden entrance. There aren’t any large signs indicating a parking entrance and it looks more like an employee parking lot than a public one, so it’s really easy to miss.
