We aren't rookies when it comes to staying at Hilton's Conrad properties. We stayed at one in Tokyo, Japan and it was one of the most luxurious hotels we've ever stayed at.

Every year, we get a free hotel night at any Hilton property with the Hilton credit card and we can choose from any hotel around the world, even the fancy 5-star hotels. This year, we chose to stay at Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach.

We booked our Conrad stay right on A1A Beachfront Avenue in Fort Lauderdale Beach. The moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by all the staff and were immediately offered some bottled water.

It's those little things that really make you feel like they are happy to have you as a guest.

CHECK-IN

First off, we have to give major props to Stephanie. She was an incredible host at check-in. She was super friendly, patient, professional, and gave us so much information that we felt like we were the only guests staying here.

We had initially booked a Junior Suite with a king bed and sofa bed but we asked if there were any oceanfront rooms with two queen beds available and she gladly searched her database to accommodate our request.

Not only did she make it happen but we also got one of the upper-level floors which is always a huge plus for those amazing views.

Stephanie handed over our key cards and then gave us an envelope filled with additional vouchers. Our stay here kept getting better and better. She suggested that we drop off our bags and head downstairs for the complimentary wine and cheese happy hour in the library lounge.

While we waited for our elevator, we took a look at the vouchers which included two $25 dining passes, two free beach chairs and umbrella, two free bike rentals, morning yoga classes, and late check-out. I feel like I'm forgetting something since there was just so many awesome perks.

OCEANFRONT ROOM

Clean and modern room on the 16th floor

Our room was on the 16th floor, Room 1650, and when we walked in the room, we were surprised to see an actual kitchen. We're used to sinks and refrigerators in some hotel rooms, but this one was an apartment style kitchen with a stove, sink, microwave, cabinets, silverware and a Nespresso machine with plenty of coffee pods (we love Nespresso!).

The bathroom was spacious and even had a magnifying mirror which is a huge plus for me since I have bad eyesight. It's always tricky putting on my makeup without one of these mirrors. The shower and bathtub were separate with plenty of lighting.

The bathtub was a deep-soaking tub with Italian marble and a wall that was entirely covered with a mirror. We both took advantage of the large tub at night but the only thing missing were some bath salts or bubbles.

What we loved most about our room, of course, was the oceanfront view. We visited Ft. Lauderdale in the beginning of April, so the weather was perfect for us to sit outside and enjoy the views. The balcony furniture was very chic and we were also impressed with the beautiful wood floor panels.

There are plenty of outlets USB plugs throughout the room. There's also a functional desk, 50-inch HDTV, alarm clock, accent chair and mini bar. The queen beds were super comfy and we slept like babies on their fluffy pillows.

ATLAS COCKTAIL LOUNGE

After we toured the room, we immediately headed downstairs for happy hour at the Atlas Cocktail Lounge. I was so happy to see that they weren't serving cheap wine (that usually happens when it's free). Both the red and white wines were superb and the selection of cheese and bread paired nicely with our wine.

POOL

After a few glasses of wine, we decided to head upstairs to the pool area to watch the sunset. The pool area was very clean and the bartenders were super friendly. There were plenty of lounge chairs and they even had some life-size board games like Jenga and chess if you wanted to do more than sunbathe.

DINNER - CORNUCOPIA GOURMET MARKET

We were starting to get a little hungry and decided to have dinner in the hotel at Cornucopia Gourmet Market. The market had great artisanal cuisines including flatbreads, sandwiches, salads, organic juices, and hummus.

I ordered the Slow Roasted Turkey Sandwich and Crystal had the Margherita Pizza. The sandwich was a generous portion, but we were a little surprised that the pizza resembled an appetizer portion. Luckily, we weren't super hungry and it was plenty for the evening.

FORT LAUDERDALE BEACH

Since we were right across the street from Fort Lauderdale Beach, we woke up early the next morning to catch the sunrise. It was pretty breezy and there were already some people on the beach taking pictures, taking a stroll or catching the sunrise like us.

Of course the sunset was gorgeous, but we got a little unlucky and it started raining. Sporadic rain is super common in Florida, so we knew we would probably get a chance to enjoy the beach later in the afternoon.

BREAKFAST - TERRA MARE

Spinach and Mushroom Omelette at Terra Mare

We quickly grabbed our things and ran back inside and decided to have breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, Terra Mare. We sat outdoors (it already stopped raining) and had an amazing table with oceanfront views.

The service was great and instead of ordering the buffet, we both decided on ordering from the menu. I had the Spinach Omelet and Crystal had the I-95 Pile up 26 (eggs, choice of protein, hash-brown, toast, juice, and coffee).

She also had to try the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes. We're so glad she ordered the pancakes since the omelette was a little overcooked and lacked flavor.

On the other hand, the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes were absolutely delicious. We've never had pancakes with lemon or poppyseed and hope to find this at other restaurants.

OUR VERDICT

Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay at Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach. The service was top-notch, the room was spacious and modern, the amenities were plentiful, and you can't beat the location.  We also couldn't stop shouting, "A1A Beachfront Avenue"...Ice Ice baby!
