We had a free night with Crystal's Hyatt Gold Passport points and were pretty excited to stay at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. This hotel was featured in the indie film, Lost in Translation and we love that movie with Bill Murray. TripAdvisor rates the Park Hyatt Tokyo #1 out of 79 hotels in Shinjuku and it is Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice 2016. 

To get to the hotel, we took the Keio subway line and got off at Hatsudai station. It's a quick 10 minute walk from the station, but we did get a little lost at first when we exited the station. We could have easily asked for help, but had our nifty pocket wifi to help us navigate this big city. Follow signs to Tokyo Opera City, which will lead you to a big crosswalk. Keep walking straight and you will see the Park Hyatt Tokyo tower. 

The hotel is located inside the Shinjuku Park Hyatt Tower, which is the second tallest building in Shinjuku. The building consists of retail and office space and the hotel is located on floors 39 to 52. This tower is huge, so getting to your room takes some time and kinda feels like a maze. 

We were immediately greeted by multiple staff members and were taken to the check-in lounge where you are seated at a desk to go over your reservation. They present your reservation papers to you in a fancy leather folder and we signed the agreement. It almost felt like we were at a bank or realtor signing important business papers. We were given our room key, which was an actual key and not a card. We really didn't like the key since we couldn't put it away in our wallet and it was bulky, but it wasn't a huge deal breaker. The staff member escorted us up to our room and showed us several features of the room.

Our standard room had an amazing view of the city with all the skyscrapers which go on for miles. We were welcomed with a nice little welcome note accompanied by bottles of water and a box of snacks. There was also green tea and Nespresso coffee available for us to drink. If you want to pay extra, there is a great selection of Japanese whiskey in the minibar. 

The room was pretty spacious with two double beds, closet, dresser, entertainment center, wet bar, sitting area, and desk. The bathroom was impressive with a deep soaking tub, a separate glass-enclosed shower and another separate area for the famous high-tech Japanese toilet. It was also stocked with a ton of amenities. If we had known, we would have just left our toiletry bags at home. It had everything from face oil, face wash, face toner & lotion, bath salt, toothbrush, sewing kit, etc. Whatever you needed, they had it. 

The service at this hotel was exceptional and every single staff member was polite and professional. When we needed something and called the front desk, they were at our door within minutes. We couldn't believe the ninja-like speed! They also provide a free shuttle service to the Shinjuku station. You can be picked up at the Shinjuku station as well, but the pick-up location is a little hard to find, so we always opted to walk to the hotel instead.

The hotel was in a great location for us, since it wasn't too far from the Owl Cafe and the karaoke place we visited.  Do you remember that karaoke scene in Lost in Translation? We went to one very similar with a view of the bustling city and had a blast singing the night away. 

There were a handful of dining options at the hotel like the New York Grill and Kozue, but we chose to dine out. We saw the Marugame Seimen Udon restaurant near the Hatsudai station and decided to go there. Not as fancy as the restaurants at Park Hyatt Tokyo, but we are huge fans of udon. Plus, we saved tons of money since Marukame Udon is pretty cheap.

We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our stay at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. If you have a free night stay with your Hyatt points or want to splurge a little in Tokyo, we definitely recommend this hotel. We can't express enough how much we loved our stay here.
