I was visiting Universal Orlando Resort for the weekend and knew I had to stop by The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen (can they make the name any longer?).

The name of the restaurant itself is fun, so I knew this place would be a fabulous time with my friend, Mariko, who was visiting from Canada.

The Chocolate Emporium is based on a cute story where Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and her robot friend, Jacques, share their love and knowledge of chocolate with the world. You can read their story on the first page of the restaurant’s menu.

Walking up to the restaurant is incredible as it is a very tall building with steam coming out of smoke stacks. It feels like you’re about to walk into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory because everything looks so whimsical.

The venue has three sections: The dining area, the milkshake bar and the pre-packaged dessert area along with steampunk merchandise.

I was immediately distracted by all the cute desserts being displayed as they were made to perfection and the creations reminded me of detailed desserts I often see in Japan.

The hostess took us to a table upstairs near the beautiful bar and large windows. She recommended a couple of dishes like the Gnocchi and the Chicken Bercy with Mole Sauce. I’ve never had mole sauce before but apparently it consists of 20 ingredients including chili peppers and chocolate.

The mole sauce sounded interesting but we weren’t so sure how we would like the chocolate sauce with our entrees, so we went with the Southern Fried Chicken BLT and the Tour De France Hamburger. I’m a sucker for fried eggs on top of my burgers.

We also ordered the Cell AZ-85 cocktail (made with whiskey, vermouth, pineapple juice and lemon juice) and the Two Chocolate Stout. Mariko had to try the Chocolate Stout since we were at the Chocolate Emporium after all.

I’m not a beer fan but I took a sip of the stout and you can definitely smell and taste the chocolate in the beer. My drink was fresh and citrusy just the way I like my cocktails.

While we waited on our entrees, Penelope and her robot friend, Jacques, stopped by our table and chatted with us for a bit about what journeys they have taken.

Both characters were so entertaining and it was such a fun addition to our dining experience. We were both giggling and enjoying our time with them and felt like little kids again.

The Tour De France Burger with Half Pound Housemade Patty, Bibb Lettuce, Roasted Tomatoes, Sunny Side Up Egg, Avocado, Crispy Onion and French Brie on Toasted Brioche

The best part was the dessert of course. They are known for their artisanal milkshakes and although they were all tempting, we decided on the Triple Chocolate Bread Pudding and it was the most amazing dessert.

It came with three types of chocolate, chocolate cake, and white chocolate ice cream. The bread pudding was delightful and the little chunks of chocolate and cinnamon sugar on the side was just perfect. I’m definitely coming back for more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will be back again when we’re in the area. It’s such a fun time and everything from the decor to the service to the delectable desserts were out of this world!
