Route 19 Inn is located in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, not too far from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I chose to stay here because it was a cute looking motel with great reviews and it was dog-friendly.

Another reason why I stayed here was that I wanted to be on the other side of the Smoky Mountains so that my drive back to Florida will be shorter the next day.

Maggie Valley is a very small town with not much around but that’s exactly what I wanted. I like the peace and quiet versus the noisy and crowded Gatlinburg, where I stayed overnight the night before.

FIRST IMPRESSION

Check-in was a breeze. There weren’t too many people staying there at the time because it was a Monday on Labor Day. Everyone was either heading back home or celebrating the holiday at home.

I booked my stay through Booking.com, so everything was paid for. I was given a key with their logo keychain and stayed in Room 10 on the corner not too far from the main office.

THE ROOM

My room was adorable. I loved the renovations they made to the motel with their vintage appliances and furniture.

I had a king size bed, dining room table with two chairs, a large TV, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, rack with hangers, and an extra blanket.

The bathroom seemed like they kept the original pink tiles, which I adored. The only thing was that the sink was very tiny, so I didn’t have much room to place my toiletries around the sink.

They provided basic toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and soap. I liked the packaging of the toiletries because they looked modern and trendy. They also provided a couple of makeup remover wipes.

AMENITIES

On the property, there is a little playground with a swing set and slide, a cute vintage car and gas pump, a pool, and many areas where you can access the creek. They also provide chairs around the creek so you can relax. Additionally, there was a bench swing and gazebo with a BBQ grill in case you wanted to cook your meal outside.

PET-FRIENDLINESS

Pets are welcome here and the fee was $25 per pet, per stay, which was a great deal. They allow two pets up to 25 lbs and there is a designated pet relief area on the property.

LOCATION

As I mentioned before, there is not much around the hotel, but it is not far from the Oconaluftee Visitor Center within the Smoky Mountains, which is about 17 miles east of the park.

Cataloochee Valley is also located 22 miles northeast of the hotel and this is a great location to see the elks during sunrise or sunset.

There are several local restaurants down the road where you can get food for take-out or delivery. I stayed at Route 19 Inn on a Monday and a lot of the restaurants happened to be closed that day.

The only restaurant that was open that piqued my interest was Cafe Italiano. I ordered a cheese pizza and took it back to the hotel with me. It was delicious.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I left early in the morning the next day and since the inn does not have staff available 24/7 on the property, there was a drop box at the office where you could drop your keys.

Overall, I had a great stay here and would recommend it if you want to relax in a quiet place at an affordable price.
