Odaiba is a man-made island in Tokyo and it has been quite some time (over 15 years) since Candy last visited. Odaiba is a very popular tourist attraction and it is also known to be a popular date spot. The island is super clean and during the planning of this city, it was built to give it a futuristic vibe.

Here are the top five things you can explore in Odaiba:

1. Diver City Tokyo Plaza & The Unicorn Gundam Statue

Diver City Tokyo Plaza is a huge shopping mall with many shops, activities and restaurants. You’ll discover an array of charming Japanese character shops, including popular favorites such as Hello Kitty Japan, Doraemon Future Department Store, and The Gundam Base Tokyo to name a few. One of the main attractions at this location is the famous twenty meter "life-size" Unicorn Gundam. Gundam is an old anime cartoon in Japan and is still popular today and is a pop-culture icon.

2. Aqua City Odaiba & Odaiba Illumination

Aqua City Odaiba is a large complex shopping center which has a great location where you can see the center of Tokyo metropolis over the Statue of Liberty and Rainbow Bridge. If you’re a fan of ramen, you’ll have to check out the ramen shop food court,“Tokyo Ramen Kokugikan Mai”, located on the upper floor.

The Odaiba Illumination is a gorgeous light display with amazing backdrops of the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. There are several light illuminations throughout the area and it's available all year round when the sun goes down. We visited during the Christmas season, so many of the light displays had a Christmas theme.

3. Fuji TV Light Show

While we were walking around and enjoying all the lights, the famous Fuji TV building began to light up and started playing classic Fuji TV theme songs. The lights were fun to watch as it was going along with the music. We grew up watching a ton of Fuji television drama shows, so it was very nostalgic.

We can certainly envision this as a conversation starter if you happened to be walking around the area with your date. Even if you aren't familiar with any of the songs, you would definitely enjoy the building's light show.

4. Odaiba Marine Park

The beachfront park features a rocky beach area where visitors of all ages can engage in various activities, such as fishing, gathering colorful seashells, and exploring the natural surroundings.

You’ll also notice here a notable replica of the Statue of Liberty, which has become quite a recognizable sight. It was installed as a meaningful symbol of the enduring friendship and strong ties between Japan and France. Initially conceived as a temporary exhibit, its unexpected popularity with visitors led to its status as a permanent fixture in the area.

5. Rainbow Bridge

You can’t go to Odaiba without hearing about the iconic Rainbow Bridge. It’s Tokyo’s most colorful bridge and it lights up at night in a stunning display of vibrant rainbow colors.

Its actual official name is the Tokyo Bay Connector Bridge, but the charming nickname is far more memorable and fitting. The bridge and its panoramic views are truly beautiful and a sight to see, particularly after dark when the illumination enhances its appearance.
